THERAPEUTIC EXTRACT INDUCED NANOPARTICLES SYNTHESIS AND ITS ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY

Nanotechnology is one of the most significant research areas to emerge in the last decade or so. It is based on the concept of creating applications based on nanomaterials at the molecular level, thus we can describe it as the science of ‘domesticating molecules. The development of a reliable, eco-friendly process for the synthesis of nanoparticles is an important aspect of today.

The approach is based on the biosynthesis of nanoparticles on the use of oyster mushroom and Glycyrrhiza glabra. The mushrooms are known to have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, and antitumor activity. Glycyrrhiza glabra, since ancient times useful in conventional and naturopathic medicine for both mouth ulcers and peptic ulcers also used as a topical antiviral agent for shingles, ophthalmic, oral, or genital herpes. It can also be used for auto-immune conditions including lupus, scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis, and animal dander allergies.
In this study, an attempt is made to explore the potential of oyster mushrooms and Glycyrrhiza glabra extracts as reducing and protecting agents for the synthesis of gold and silver nanoparticles. The physical characterizations of the synthesized particles are studied by UV-Visible spectroscopy, XRD, FTIR, TEM & SEM. Further, the influence of the antimicrobial activity of the nanoparticles was also investigated. The present study suggests that the quantification of nanoparticles indicates its possible role in therapeutic application.
